Dentures and Partials

Custom-made full and partial dentures can restore your smile and help you eat and speak more comfortably.

Before choosing a denture

  • Removable or fixed: full and partial dentures come out for cleaning. All-on-X stays in place for daily use and requires cleaning beneath the prosthesis.
  • Timing: ask whether an immediate denture is suitable after extraction and how healing may change its fit.
  • Ongoing costs: compare the treatment estimate, included adjustments, future relines, repairs, and replacement needs.

Understanding the basics

What Are Dentures?

Dentures replace missing teeth with a removable, custom-made prosthesis. A full denture replaces an entire arch; a partial denture fills gaps and is supported by the remaining teeth and gums. We select the tooth shape, shade, and fit for your mouth. Dentures take practice to use and may need adjustments as your gums and bone change.

What to expect

The Process
1

Consultation and Impressions

We evaluate your mouth, discuss your goals, and take precise impressions and measurements of your bite and smile.

2

Design and Try-In

You preview the teeth — shade, shape, and arrangement — in wax before anything is final. Changes are easy at this stage.

3

Delivery

Your finished denture is fitted and adjusted. We'll coach you through the first weeks of eating and speaking.

4

Fine-Tuning

We’ll explain which follow-up adjustments are included and help address sore spots as you adjust to your denture.

When dentures won't stay put

The Stability Upgrade

If your denture feels unstable, we can assess the fit and discuss suitable options. Fixed All-on-X teeth may be worth considering if you want an implant-supported replacement that stays in place for daily use. Our comparison of removable and fixed implant teeth explains the differences in daily care and function.

Common questions about dentures

How long do dentures last?
Typically 5–10 years before replacement, with relines along the way as your gums change shape. Regular dental checkups keep the fit right and your gums healthy.
Will I be without teeth during the process?
Immediate dentures can be prepared before planned extractions and fitted that day when appropriate. We discuss temporary replacement before treatment so you know what to expect.
Are dentures covered by insurance?
Coverage depends on your plan, eligibility, and treatment needs. We can check your specific dental benefits and explain your estimated out-of-pocket cost before treatment.
