Common Implant Questions

Your implant questions, answered

Options and materials

What are implants made of?

The post is medical-grade titanium — the same biocompatible metal used in hip and knee replacements. The visible tooth is strong, natural-looking ceramic.

Will my implant look natural?

We choose the crown’s shade and shape to blend with the surrounding teeth. The result also depends on the gum and bone around the implant, which we assess during planning.

Is an implant better than a bridge?

Both can be suitable options. An implant usually avoids reshaping neighboring teeth but requires surgery and healing. A conventional bridge uses the neighboring teeth for support and may take less time. We compare suitability, cost, and ongoing care for your case.

What if I'm missing all my teeth?

One option to consider is All-on-X full-arch implants for a fixed replacement of an upper or lower arch. Eligible patients may receive temporary teeth the morning after surgery, followed by a final prosthesis after healing. We also discuss other suitable replacement options.

Treatment and care

Does getting an implant hurt?

Local anesthetic numbs the treatment area. Nitrous oxide is available when appropriate. We discuss oral and IV conscious sedation when appropriate and confirm your comfort plan before treatment. Some soreness and swelling are expected afterward; we explain pain relief, recovery, and when to contact us.

How long does the whole process take?

Many cases take several months from placement to the final crown. Extractions, grafting, and individual healing can change the timing. We explain each stage of your plan before treatment.

Can my body reject an implant?

Titanium is generally well tolerated, but an implant can fail to heal or develop problems later. Several factors can contribute, including infection, healing difficulties, and mechanical problems. We review your individual risks and explain how to care for the implant.

How long do implants last?

Implants can last many years with appropriate care, but their lifespan varies. The implant itself cannot develop decay; the surrounding tissues still need care, and crowns or other components may need repair or replacement.

Cost and coverage

How much do dental implants cost?

Cost depends on the number of teeth being replaced, any additional treatment, and the final restoration. We provide a written treatment estimate and explain what is included. Request the implant guide below to learn about your options, and ask our team what your free consultation includes.

Does insurance cover implants?

Coverage varies by plan. We can check your benefits and explain your estimated out-of-pocket cost. Cherry financing is coming soon. Ask our team which payment options are currently available.
