CEREC Same-Day Crowns in Mt. Juliet

A crown made for your tooth—and, in many cases, your day. CEREC lets us scan, design, and create a suitable crown in our office, often during one appointment.

What Is CEREC?

CEREC brings digital scanning, computer-assisted design, and crown milling into the dental office. When your tooth and treatment plan are suitable, this process can let you leave the crown appointment with your final restoration in place.

A crown covers a tooth that needs more support than a filling can provide. Our first step is deciding what your tooth needs; the technology helps us carry out the right plan. Explore all your crown options.

From your tooth to your crown

The Same-Day Crown Process
1

Assess and Prepare

We examine the tooth, discuss alternatives, and check whether a same-day crown is appropriate. After numbing, we prepare the tooth for the planned restoration.

2

Digital Scan

A small scanning camera records the prepared tooth and surrounding bite. The digital impression supplies the information for designing your crown.

3

Design

We plan the crown on screen, considering its shape, neighboring teeth, and bite. A digital design still needs clinical judgment and careful checks.

4

Mill in the Office

The milling unit shapes the crown from a selected block of restorative material using the digital design.

5

Finish and Check

We complete the finishing steps required for the material, then check the crown’s fit, contacts, shade, and bite. Adjustments are made as needed.

6

Place and Explain Care

When the crown is ready, we secure it to the tooth and explain aftercare. If a concern requires another visit, we explain the reason and next step.

Two useful ways to make a crown

CEREC and Laboratory-Made Crowns

CEREC: we scan, design, and mill the crown in the office. Suitable cases can often be completed at the same appointment, avoiding a separate placement visit and an interim temporary crown.

A laboratory-made crown: a dental laboratory makes the restoration from our records. A temporary crown commonly protects the prepared tooth until the final crown can be fitted at a later visit.

The right approach for your tooth

Who May Be a Candidate?

A damaged or heavily restored tooth may benefit from a crown, but not every tooth or crown is suitable for same-day treatment. We consider the remaining tooth, gum health, bite, appearance, and material requirements.

A laboratory approach, additional treatment, or more than one visit may be appropriate for your needs. We explain the reasons and timeline before treatment; speed does not replace careful planning.

In-office workflow

Digital scan → crown design → in-office milling → finishing and fit checks → placement when ready.

Laboratory workflow

Impression or scan → laboratory fabrication → protection of the prepared tooth as needed → fit checks and placement.

Your same-day crown questions

Can every crown be completed in one visit?
No. Suitability depends on the tooth, treatment needs, material, and clinical findings. We confirm the expected visits after assessment.
Will I need a temporary crown?
Often not when a suitable final crown can be completed that day. A temporary may still be needed if treatment is staged, a laboratory crown is chosen, or another visit becomes necessary.
How long should I allow for the appointment?
The time depends on preparation, design, milling, finishing, and your clinical needs. We explain the expected appointment length when your treatment is planned.
Does a same-day crown need special care?
It needs daily cleaning and regular checkups like other crowns. A crown does not prevent decay at its edges or protect against every fracture. Tell us about persistent sensitivity, pain, or a bite that feels uneven.
Will my insurance cover it?
Benefits depend on your plan and the reason for treatment. We review your estimated coverage and share of the cost before you decide; same-day treatment is not a guarantee of coverage.
Can I get an emergency crown today?
Call about a painful or damaged tooth so we can assess urgency and arrange care. A same-day final crown depends on the diagnosis, suitability, and appointment availability; some urgent problems need another treatment first.
