Dr. Dat Le believes that understanding the person behind the smile is an essential part of dentistry. He takes time to listen, explain treatment options, and understand what matters to each patient. At Highland Dental, his approach combines thoughtful planning with a personal connection, helping patients feel comfortable asking questions and taking an active role in their care.
Dr. Dat Le was born and raised in Vietnam and moved to the United States with his family at the age of 17, reuniting with loved ones and beginning a new chapter in pursuit of a brighter future. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Texas at San Antonio before completing his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree at the Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso.
During dental school, Dr. Le studied esthetic dentistry, oral pathology, and research, including work on calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumors, a rare type of jaw tumor.
After graduating, Dr. Le spent a year practicing alongside his mentor, Dr. Alessandro Retis, in El Paso. This experience focused on cosmetic dentistry, implant treatment, and full-mouth reconstruction, including All-on-X.
Through this work, he gained experience in both the surgical and restorative aspects of implant dentistry, along with smile design. Today, he brings that background to Highland Dental, helping patients maintain healthy teeth and restore smiles affected by damage or tooth loss. His approach considers both function and appearance, with treatment guided by each patient’s oral health and goals.
Dr. Le is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry and is working toward its Fellowship designation. He also participates in the Kois Study Club as part of his continuing education.
Dr. Le has spent years deeply involved in outreach efforts aimed at improving oral health education and access. He served as a leader in his dental outreach committee, raising awareness of how oral health impacts overall wellness. His volunteer efforts include the Texas Mission of Mercy, Give Kids a Smile, and partnering with GiGi's Playhouse to provide oral health education for children with Down syndrome. Through the Medventure Program at TTUHSC, he has also mentored young students exploring careers in science and healthcare through hands-on learning.
Dr. Le is committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care to every patient he meets. He takes the time to listen, educate, and ensure each person feels comfortable and respected — because informed patients make the best decisions for their own health.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Le enjoys spending quality time with his wife and their young son. He also enjoys fishing and skiing, whether it’s a quiet day on the water or an active day on the slopes. Both offer a chance to spend time outdoors, unwind, and enjoy a change of pace.
